We all get sad every once in a while, and it’s okay to be down for a while. It’s completely normal. What isn’t okay is getting affected by it, and doing things in sadness that you may regret later. Being aware of the fact that this is just a phase and it will go soon, accepting it and taking steps to overcome it are the signs of maturity. Our emotions are often an outward sign of what’s going on for us internally, and sometimes, the internal stuff justifies the bad mood. Embrace those emotions and take the action you know you need to take. So, stop sulking over it, and work it out! Here are 5
Physical Activity
Let those endorphins rise in you! Stop being that couch potato, and feel the fresh air. Physical activity need not just mean hitting the gym; it can be dancing your heart out or just going out for a brisk walk in the open air or doing yoga. It definitely has an enormous effect on our mood; in fact, exercising is also considered to be a great anti-depressant. It helps to distract you from your worries and gets you out of a cycle of negative thoughts and helps you change your perspective to look at things. It energises you, reduces stress hormones giving you an overall feel good and improves your self-esteem.
Meditation
Meditation is the ultimate way of healing your mind. The mind becomes fresh, delicate and beautiful. It cleanses and nourishes you from within and calms you, whenever you feel overwhelmed, unstable, or emotionally shut down. Meditating is like going on a journey within and its a key to all emotional problems. Practising meditation regularly alleviates you from stress-related problems, deeply relaxes the mind and rejuvenates the system. Meditation makes you aware that your inner attitude determines your happiness and can instantly help you declutter your mind and elevate your mood.
Pursuing your hobby :
Recreational and relaxation activities help reduce stress and instantly make you feel good.Doing something you love can make a great deal in making you feel good about yourself, they make you happier and feel relaxed. They also help you engage your mind and help overcome overthinking. Hobbies help exercise the brain and compliment your lifestyle. They are your escape from your monotonous routine that we stuck ourselves in and hence give us a chance to focus on something else.
Musical retreat
Music has multiple mental health benefits – regardless of whether you play an instrument, sing or just listen and enjoy. Music can help you manage your emotions and cope with stress, and it’s also a great way to connect with friends. It makes you forget your problems, takes you away from reality into your own magical world. The rhythm and tone of music sets a pattern to your brain and help change your mood.
A good book/ your favorite Movie to the rescue!
Watching your favourite movie, or reading a book is also a great way to escape from overthinking. Going into a different world for some time helps in changing the way we see the problem and can even give us lessons or ways to handle the problems or the bad mood.
So, these were the 5 feel good activities for you that may work! In addition, you may also burst out in a random dance sequence, play your favorite song and sing along or just go for a nature walk to change those negative feelings that may be troubling you 🙂
