5 Things That Are Unintentionally Ruin Your Life

When one part of our life is growing, other parts need not suffer, right? So, in order to balance it out, steps are to be taken right? If we all make a few tweaks in our life, the way we are progressing with it, a lot can be improved! I am always, always all in for growth and looking for ways to better the life that I am bestowed with. So here is a list of five little things that we all do that is hampering our growth in ways that we don’t even realize!

Being stuck in an event that happened in the past | Letting the past overpower our thoughts!

Needless to explain, this is a damn common thing we all face. Maybe a heartbreak or may be a fight or an unpleasant memory that we are stuck with that is holding us back. It is holding us to be our fullest. It is holding you to be the better you. So, when do you think is the right time to break through it? Quoting John E. Lewis, he said, “If not you, then who? If not now, then when?”

Also, Mr. Shah Rukh Khan said in Dear Zindagi (movie) to Alia Bhatt, Don’t let your past blackmail your present to ruin a beautiful future! Story and Screenplay by Gauri Shinde!

Overthinking:

Nobody can be so guilty of this as I am! This takes away so much bandwidth and still, it happens. It is my worst enemy and I am trying my best to break up with it. Can you also?

Negative self-talk:

This is a no brainer! Negative talk is unhealthy and we all know it. It is not healthy for you, the people around you and the environment at large. Recently, I attended a seminar called Empower in Mumbai with Global Humanitarian Leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and he said in his talk that if we indulge in negative talk of any kind, be it gossip or deteriorate ourselves and others or judge people among several other things, a part of our brain shrinks! Research supports this, indulging into negativity shrinks our hypothalamus.

Labeling yourself!

New York Times Best Selling Author and one of my favourite people, Ramit Sethi (Who is unfortunately engaged, #justsaying!) put it very well. We need to be extremely cautious of what we say or think of ourselves. Saying anything after I AM, should be a conscious statement because if you keep on labeling yourself, it becomes your reality. So, if you say, I am fat, I am lazy, I am not outgoing or anything else, that just takes away all your power and make you small.

Be aware of what you label yourself!

Staying in your comfort zone!

In the beginning of 2017, I thought of doing something about this and taking the right steps to break my patterns, and I am glad that I am sticking to my promise. This year so far has been a happening one, thanks to this goal of mine to frequently step out of my comfort zone. So, if you wish to grow, which I believe you want to, then please start taking baby steps in this direction! You won’t regret! πŸ™‚

These are some of the things that keep us small and do not let us grow to our full potential. So, I want to let go of them and I am already walking the talk! What are your 5 things to say bye bye to? Do enlighten me in the comments below, who knows I might want to steal some of yours too!

P.S.Β Meditation has helped me be sane and be at the top of my game all through these years. I am volunteering for a Meditation Workshop happening in Vashi, Navi Mumbai. So, if you stay nearby, get in touch to know more! It is totally a Γn’ thing right now, but important to learn it in a correct way to get results! Get in touch to have the details!

Hi, you lovely souls! I am so glad to be able to pour my heart out after so long! Last few weeks have been insanely hectic for me and I am learning to deal with the new phase. I want to share that I got promoted at my workplace and now, I head a team of content writers and work as a Sub-Editor πŸ™‚ This new role both excites me as well as intimidates me to enter a new zone. But, it has been super occupying and I had to extend so much, also, work has piled up like never before. But not complaining, it’s supposed to be a happy time!

  1. Wow! First of all, heartiest congratulations, Meghana, for the promotion! So proud of you! Wish you the very best for the new turn in life!
Now, I fully agree with you about letting go of those habits that prevent you from going ahead in life. I understand, but at times, find it difficult to implement it. Guess, I need to work harder! πŸ™‚ Positive self-talk helps a lot when you face a roadblock, or when you feel you have let yourself down. Accepting that we all make mistakes and so we need to work on ourselves instead of thinking the worse about us, helps more. And, lastly, changing with times, making some changes in ourselves also helps us move ahead in life, and achieve all that we set out to! These are the things I have learnt from my life.

    • Thank you Shilpa! πŸ™‚ Yes, it is hard to let go…! I totally understand. Constant reminders help, also meditation works wonders for me! And, positive self-talk is another helpful thing.
