Honestly, I do not feel anything close to what is shown in the sanitary napkin advertisements during periods! Not many of us have pleasurable memories of those dreaded 5 days of the month. Okay so let’s come straight to the point, periods are painful. Due to our hectic lifestyle and day to day work pattern, most girls experience cramps, pain, fatigue and other related ailments during our menstrual cycle. Period pain, irregularity, delay or early arrival of our monthly guest, are some of the issues that most girls face.
Eating healthy, regular exercising, doing yoga and meditation can help make you fitter thus reducing period pain gradually.
I was looking something to do during the periods to reduce the pain and here is what I found. These awesome tricks/tips that would help you reduce and get some relief from the period pain significantly. And, the best part about it is, it is so freaking easy to practise. These 5 simple ‘Mudras’ can help big time during periods.
First, let us briefly understand what are Mudras?
Mudras are simple gestures that direct the flow of prana or energy at the perfect place in our body. It has a great significance in Yoga and are an important aspect of several spiritual practices. Mudras have been practised in our country since ages.
Simple Rules to practise these Mudras:
- Keep your hands loose and relaxed
- Practise these Mudras twice a day during your periods and once during your PMS days
- Do not meditate while doing the Mudras, just take normal breaths
- You can listen to music, watch movies, videos while practising these simple Mudras
- Keep sitting in one place while doing the Mudras
Here are the 5 Mudras to reduce menstrual pain.
First Mudra:
How to do it:
Touch the index and middle finger to your palms and gently place your thumb over it. Straighten your ring and tiny finger. Do not tighten the hands, keep your hands relaxed. Rest them on your thighs. Maintain the mudra for about 4-5 minutes.
Second Mudra:
How to do it:
Fold the ring finger and gently place the thumb on the nail of the ring finger. Relax and rest your hands on your thighs. Continue doing it for about 4-5 minutes.
Third Mudra:
How to do it:
Cover your thumb with both your index and middle finger. Touch the tips of your ring and tiny fingers and place them in front as demonstrated in the picture. Maintain the mudra for about 4-5 minutes.
Fourth Mudra:
How to do it:
Touch both the tips of your little finger and thumb to one another and gently place them in the front like demonstrated in the picture. Maintain the mudra for about 4-5 minutes. Make sure you do not tighten your hands.
Fifth Mudra:
How to do it:
Touch both the tips of your ring finger and thumb to one another and gently place them in the front like demonstrated in the picture. Maintain the mudra for about 4-5 minutes. Make sure you do not tighten your hands.
