Things to be grateful for that can instantly make you happy!

Gratefulness is the key to happiness! Just a little act of remembering how fortunate we are for all the things that we have and have been blessed with can straight away change our whole perspective of looking at situations and everyday events. We generally get bogged down and loose our cool for trivial things and ruin our entire day behind an issue that could have been ignored or solved by our proactive actions. I came across this hard hitting quote that struck me instantly!

“Life is 10% what happens to me and, 90% how I react to it.”   —- Chuck Swindoll

This is so true. There are so many things not in our control for which we keep freaking out. When in a bad mood, upset, depressed or even bored for that matter, the simple act of being grateful comes to our rescue. Let us have a look at little things to be grateful for that can make us all happy. 🙂

Your electronic devices:

We need to be grateful for having cell phones, laptops, tabs and all the digital devices that have become a necessity these days. I chose to keep this one first because you are reading this article because of your phone, tab or computer. So be thankful for having them, as several parts of the world are still struggling for their share of electricity, water and other essentials.

A secured shelter:

We have a house to live in, may be a rented house, a small house but, a house! Gratefulness dawns when you see people on the streets miserable in cold, rain and sun. Sometimes, when we are in the complain mode, we tend to completely ignore this fact. So smile homie, you have got a home 🙂 and it is a cherry on the cake if you have a room for yourself! #Peace

Your health:

It is a big one. We are healthy! We have eyes, hands, legs and all our sensory organs, body parts are functioning appropriately. This is a blessing! Remember the time you were sick, had a cold, a bad headache or anything. How uncomfortable were you? Were you happy? Or were you able to do even the smallest of tasks? No! So our health is a biggest gift bestowed upon us and we all should value it. It is truly one of the major things to be grateful for! 🙂

Ability to learn, grow and share:

We as human beings are gifted with the ability to learn, grow and share. All the roles that we play in our daily lives, be it of a daughter, a teacher, a sibling, a parent, an employee or a boss, we all keep learning, sharing and also growing in the process.

For all your loved ones:

We all should be grateful for our dear ones who love us. Our family and friends are the ones who take care of us and love us when we are down. No matter how much we argue or do not get along but, they will be there in need for sure. We can fall back upon them. This feeling of belongingness is a pure blessing.

For your job/income:

For all the cash that flows in from your business, from your day job and other sources thatbrings in financial independence to you.

Mother Nature:

Be grateful for the perfect weather, for the heat, light, air, water, trees, flowers and life!

For just a good day:

Be grateful for all the good days that bring you joy, simple things that make you happy. Things to be grateful for can be as small as watching your favourite film, or talking to your best friend after a long time. 🙂

All the great personalities, successful leaders, inspirational people practise gratefulness for bringing in abundance. I have started this daily practise of penning down 5 simple things everyday and expressing thankfulness for them. This can bringan immediate shift in the chaotic mind, settles negative thoughts and makes you feel good.

  1. Superb article! I just loved it. Really we should be grateful to the things we have rather than just concentrating on what we don’t have & making ourself unhappy. I just loved the idea of penning down the things expressing thankfulness. This would definately make us happier. Keep it up. Well done Meghana.

  2. First of all I am grateful to you for writing this article, to remind me to be grateful for all the things that I have to be grateful for so that I have more things to be grateful for … Lol.. The point is to be full..your article put this point very nicely. Gratefulness sifts our consciousness from lack consciousness to fulfilled consciousness. When we live and act with a fulfilled consciousness we have more energy and enthusiasm, we are more creativity and productive and the end result is success and happiness.
