Easy To Make Healthy And Delicious Herbal Tea Recipes!

Easy To Make Healthy And Delicious Herbal Tea Recipes!

Monsoon is the time when the craving for tea is at its peak. The cooling showers outside make all the tea lovers hop in their beds with their favourite cup of tea and enjoy a cozy time.

Everything about tea is special. I am sure tea lovers can relate, the perfect colour, the aroma and the delicious taste of course! Aah! Feels so good just by thinking about it! No wonder the rainy season is our favourite time to have the famous Ginger Tea or Adrak wali chai as we love to call it. But, saying so, I would also like to add that nothing in excess is good. Yes, you might be tempted to have a hot cup of tea every two hours of the day (like I do these days) but that is not the correct thing to do to your body, right?

Honestly, I love both tea and coffee equally but at home, we usually have Chai more and coffee is reserved often for the outings because let’s be real, no one can beat the coffee stores when it comes to the taste. So, when I found myself craving for tea every now and then, I thought of this solution! Eureka……..! No, not really! The option was pretty much always there 😀

Well, Herbal Tea or Ayurvedic Chai is the best thing you can have during this season. As they are not only the best alternatives for our regular tea but they are tasty, have a fantastic aroma, are extremely good for health and most importantly not very difficult to make as I thought they were! Win-Win!

Now, before writing this piece, I did my homework and googled some stuff to provide you the best herbal tea recipes but in vain. Most of them were so tedious and their ingredients were so alien that I wanted to cancel the thought of having a health drink altogether! (hmm!)

So, I am going to suggest you some very simple, easy to make herbal tea recipes and, its ingredients are easily available in your kitchen. So, nothing fancy here, nothing master chef like for sure!

Ingredients Needed For Both The Herbal Tea Recipes:

  • Lemon Grass Dry/Wet (Whatever is available)
  • Fresh Ginger (Adrak)
  • Rutaceae leaves (Belache Pan, the one which we offer to Lord Shiva!)
  • Holy Basil Leaves (Tulsi patta)
  • Cloves (Lavang/laung)
  • Black Pepper (Mira)
  • Cinnamon (Dalchini)
  • Dry Ginger Power (Sunth/soonth)
  • Cardamom (Elaichi)
  • Jaggery (Gud)

How To Make:

Method 1:

Boil 2-3 cups of water in a clean container. Put jaggery in it (accordingly) and then let it mix well. Add lemon grass, ginger, tulsi leaves, cinnamon, cloves, black pepper and Rutaceae leaves (if you have) and let it boil properly till it gets mixed well. Strain it and drink while it’s hot or warm. Super Simple! Yes, after the jaggery is added, you can add the rest of the things at once.

Important Note: If you want to add milk to it, then you can add it after putting off the gas, letting it settle for a while. Else, the milk might ruin all your creation. (Mom said! So, let’s listen to her!) But, it is delicious without the milk also so why take the risk? Lol

Note 2: You can add mint leaves as well along with a few other refreshing herbs like lavender and raspberry that are used.

Method 2:

Boil 2-3 cups of water in a clean container. Put jaggery in it (accordingly) and then let it mix well. Add lemon grass, soonth or dry ginger, tulsi leaves, cardamom, black pepper and let it boil properly till it gets mixed well. Strain it and drink while it’s hot or warm.

The only difference here is we are adding dry ginger instead of the fresh one along with cardamom (elaichi).

A few Benefits of Herbal Tea:

  • Soothes common cold
  • Anti-Aging
