Effective tips for immunity

Hi people! Publishing immunity tips by Sr. M.D. (Ayurveda) Doctor Harish B Singh (PhD). These serve as very effective for preventing yourselves and your family from the COVID-19 situation. He has also worked immensely for HIV patients.

In his words…

“In order to build a strong immune system and for general prevention in the times of the COVID-19 pandemic, in my view and opinion, the following simple precautions and easily available practices that you can do at home may be followed:

  • Sip on simple warm water as many times during the day as possible.
  • [Heating water with some Tulsi leaves / Ginger or Dry Ginger Powder / Turmeric Powder will be more beneficial (you can mix all 3 if available, or any combination as per availability).
  • Up to two times a day, have a teaspoon of honey. If possible have it with a dash of pepper powder or dry ginger powder.
  • Once a day, have a moong dal (green gram) soup. Just add salt and moong dal to water and bring it to a boil.
  • Once a day, you can have warm milk with half a teaspoon of Turmeric Powder and Dry Ginger Powder. If you don’t have ginger powder, you can still have it with turmeric only.
  • If Chyawanprash is available, have a tablespoon of it once a day.

Yoga Asanas & Pranayams to fight Corona Virus

  • Apply ghee/coconut oil or Til/sesame oil on/in both nostrils (Pratimarsh Nasya). (For this, dip your little finger in the ghee or oil and rub it on the nostril so as to coat the opening of the nostril with a layer of the ghee/oil).
  • Twice a day gargle your mouth with warm water. Gargling must be done for up to five minutes. For more effectiveness, you may add a tablespoon of edible coconut oil or sesame oil in the warm water while gargling.   
  • For those who have or can have access to Ayurvedic medicines, you may take one tablet of Samshamani vati (500 mg) once a day for 15 days. Also, you can have the Ayush Kaadha tablet (500 mg) twice a day for 15 days.  
  • If you are unable to get the Ayush Kaadha tablet, you can make this homemade ‘kaadha‘ for consumption once a day:-

Tulsi (leaf or rough powder)

Dry Ginger

Cinnamon (stick or powder)

Black pepper

Four parts of Tulsi, with 2 parts of Dry Ginger, with 2 parts of cinnamon powder (reduce the stick to powder) with 1 part of black pepper powder (reduce black pepper to powder form) must be boiled in about 100 ml of water for about 7 minutes.

  • Apart from this follow all norms and guidelines of social distancing like always wear a mask in public, keep hands off everything possible, use hand wash, sanitizers etc.

 While the above should be sufficient for you, the above is not a medication for COVID-19 by any means. If you feel you have symptoms you must contact your doctor or the nearest COVID centre.”
