Finding Peace Amidst Uncertainty
It’s 2022 and the pandemic is still shadowing us for over two years now. It is not just frustrating but also anxiety-inducing for many of us, I get it. The sheer helplessness, the sadness of not being able to meet loved ones, cancelled plans and fear of travelling has groped us all. Many of us are not doing well physically while several of us are suffering mentally. It may seem like the end of the world and finding peace amidst uncertainty may seem impossible at the moment but I want to be a little bit in your face and say, don’t lose hope just yet.
Take a deep breath in and hear me out…I promise you won’t regret it!
Firstly, give a pat on your back and smile at yourself for clicking on this article and wanting to get better.
This is the first step – Awareness and Willingness to Get Better!
You already have completed the first step so kudos!!
The next step is acceptance
This is one of the hardest yet one of the most rewarding steps. Accept the situation completely, accept the change, accept the fact that it’s happening once again, accept whatever you are going through. This will reduce your suffering. Once you stop questioning ‘why’ is this happening to me and start saying okay, this is happening to me NOW WHAT? WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE IT BETTER? Tables will turn!
Develop Routines
The next thing you must do is have clear routines and tasks. You can write down what your mornings will look like, what are the tasks for evenings, how will you spend your afternoons etc. Plan your work hours, plan your free time, plan your meals and so on. This will help you have a clear picture of your day and with each accomplished task, you will feel better, you will feel in control. Try it, it works every time for me!
Pro tip: Do not write 50 things to do on your list. Have a manageable task list with 5 to 10 items that you can achieve.
Count your blessings: Before you go to bed every night, write down 3 things for which you feel grateful! It can be the food you had, clean running water, your mobile phone, the internet, your friends and family, the list is endless. No matter how bad your day was, there must be something that went well and is going well. Count your blessings!
“Remember, what you focus on grows!”
Take out a few minutes for Meditation
Just 10 minutes of calm and quiet can bring you immense peace. Just chant om with deep breaths or do pranayamas for 10-25 minutes. If you are completely new to meditation and need guidance, do not worry, there’s a 7-day meditation challenge on YouTube that you can join. Here’s the link:
So, these were some ways to finding peace amidst uncertainty that help me tremendously. Other things like dancing, singing, playing musical instrumentals, listening to music, taking a walk, painting etc. also help a lot. Just find what makes you happy and do it.
