When Good knight protected us from deadly mosquitoes!

For those of you who know my family, my parents have created a mini garden of sorts in our little backyard. It is a nice tiny area where multiple big and small trees are planted. Thanks to the mini garden we get the benefits that trees are known to offer like tasty fruits, flowers, shade and the most fascinating one is seeing multiple varieties of bird and butterfly species casually flying around in our backyard. It is a beautiful sight for sure!

However, one of the things that bother us is uninvited guests at home i.e. insects and mosquitoes. As it’s winter, we love to keep our doors and windows open, a well-ventilated home is the need of the hour! But, due to the mini garden and the open ground that follows, there are a lot of mosquitoes breeding in the area that brings the risk of diseases like malaria and dengue. Even parks and roads are infected with mosquitoes due to bad hygiene. Due to open grounds, water clogging near our buildings there is a lot of space for mosquitoes to breed. Some of our neighbours’ even showed dengue fever symptoms, which was super scary!

Story Time!

My sister and her family had visited us for Christmas this year! Yes, that means my favourite niece and nephew were home 😊 and I cannot be happier! As much as they are cute and adorable, they also are naughty little creatures that are epitome of mischief. My sister and I were worried about the breeding mosquitoes in our backyard as that is where our little ones’ play. That is when didi suggested we should opt for a mosquito repellent cream which is safe for children and adults too. I thought of Good knight as the appealing advertisements had an immediate recall value. The brand is a trusted one since years and the protection they offer is valuable. Without second thoughts we bought it for our family. My niece and nephew were out on the play ground and we were rest assured of their safety!

The risk of malaria, dengue symptoms, zika virus and other diseases caused due to infected mosquitoes is not just high in rainy season but all through the year. It is important that we take necessary protection especially when kids are around! Prevention is better than cure!

A few facts about mosquito-borne diseases:

The mosquito-borne diseases such as Malaria, Yellow Fever, Chikungunya, and Zika Virus are a threat to the global health. These diseases have become a bane of modernity. Fifty years ago, just a couple of countries reported dengue or malaria outbreaks; now it is endemic in more than 120 nations.

The transport networks that knit our world together have spread mosquitoes across the world and the explosion in urban living over the same period has ensured a ready supply of people to feed on and all sorts of new habitats to live in.

The mortality rate is about one in a hundred, but with the World Health Organisation estimates, there at least 100 million infections a year. So, it is still a very serious health issue.
