Here’s how I wrote my first book in 30 days! | Ria’s Diary

Ria's Diary

How good it feels to write this! So, finally, (after all the pain) my first book titled Ria’s Diary is out on Amazon and Flipkart! I had a story to tell and I always wanted to be a published author ever since I joined this profession. However, I had no clue how to go about it. And, this book came out of nowhere. No plan, nothing. I like to believe that destiny had it planned for me 😊

The Seed:

I have a knack for telling stories and I love reading books. I am a complete book hoarder. 😛 So, I talk about books and writing on my social media, also, have been running this blog for around 3 years now. Seeing my blogs and following my social media, an acquaintance connected with me stating that she wants me to tell her story to the world. She has been through a lot, survived many painful incidents yet came out victorious. Her story truly inspired me and hence I agreed to give voice to it. We decided to share her story in a long article form and publish it on the blog. I never imagined that it will be a full-fledged book!

The Process:

Citing my super busy schedule, her story remained on hold for three months. The girl (Real Ria), who is now a dear friend, kept in touch and used to follow up regarding the story status. Finally, I decided to take it to heart and start working on the project. I wanted to participate in the Blogchatter’s e-book carnival and impulsively decided to share Ria’s story through the course of the one-month period. So, this is how I could write the entire book i.e. 26 most intriguing incidents from Ria’s life in just 26 days. Yes, it was initially in the blog format and later when I received a raving response, I decided to convert it into a book format, I edited it appropriately, adding and subtracting things in the process.

The Obstacles:

Apart from the challenge of writing every day, there were many other things that were going on simultaneously in my personal life. My father was hospitalized, he was in the ICU for several days while I was on this writing process. (He is completely fine now, Om Namah Shivay) My elder brother was in Bangalore, so I was managing everything alone. Helping Mom and taking care of the house and the father along with this writing challenge took a toll on my mental health and my body too.

The Actualization:

It took me around 4-5 months to edit and format it well. I went ahead with the Self-Publish option as I wanted it to be printed as soon as possible (no more patience). Although I had shared it with a few publications, however, their procedure was super long and tedious. Finally, after all the effort, I hold this book in my hands and it feels overwhelming and magical. It’s a complete dream come true story!
