How did you develop the love for riding bikes?
Ans: When I was 6 years old I had this passion for Cycle and Bikes and always wanted to ride it. I was 10 and a half is when my cousin taught me to ride a Yamaha Rx100 in Kota (Rajasthan). The very first time I held the handle and did a wheelie on it. He was surprised and shocked to see so much of passion in me for a bike. I didn’t stop since then; I used to ride my father’s M80 when he wasn’t home with my mom sitting in the back seat. She was scared but always supported me as she used to see the happiness on my face. I was caught once by my father, I got a lot of thrashing but then later he also supported me in riding and taught me more of it. Also, he got me a Pulsar 150 when I was 15 and since then I have been riding regularly.

We would love to know your first ride story!
Ans: My first ride was to Goa when I was 18 and I rode Activa the whole way and we reached in 15 hours with the stay. While coming back I was riding Avenger which was again my first time but I loved riding both 2 wheelers, didn’t get tired at all due to the excitement.

Tell us something more about the Bikerni
Ans: Bikerni was started on 15th January 2011 by Urvashi Patole in Pune. In the beginning, there were only 5 female riders who wanted to break the stereotype, slowly and gradually the number went to 1500 which is spread across India with 16 active city chapters.
-
When did you join the Bikerni and what motivated you to do so?
Ans: I joined Bikerni in 2011 but started riding with them from 2013 after I came back from Dubai. Riding bikes motivated me to be a part of this only Female riding group so I feel empowered when I ride with them. We are all Family and have always stood for each other in our bad times.

We are curious to know about your upcoming “International Bike Ride” adventure, please share details with us!
Ans: This is going to be one of its first kind of a ride where we 14 women riders are going to ride from India to UK. It is going to be the largest group under the banner of Bikerni that will take up this Ride.

One memorable experience/ trip that you would like to share?
Ans: My memorable experience was Ladakh trip when I was 18 and did the ride with unknown people. I trusted them and had an amazing experience doing off-roading and riding in cold weather because of their motivation or their support I would say.

Your story is truly inspiring. What would you like to tell our readers, especially women who want to ride?
Ans: Nothing is impossible if you ‘will’ to achieve what you love to do. Initially, there is always some hindrances that try to stop your progress but when you overcome or surpass them, is the time when everything seems to be in your reach.
-
Please share some particular safety tips/ points to consider while riding for long distance?
Ans: Your bike should always be well maintained. One should know the basics of the bike to take care of small breakdowns on the way. Proper safety gear which will keep you safe from serious injuries but most of all the free spirit and positive vibes are the most important aspects.
-
Any tips to overcome the fear of riding?
Ans: There is nothing in life that is safe and fear is one aspect which we need to conquer otherwise we won’t be able to do anything in our lives.
-
Any message for my readers? 🙂
Ans: Keep your passion alive what may befall as it’s as important as breathing.
