Reasons Why I Want To Thank Meghna Gulzar For Making ‘Raazi’
I watched the first-day first show of the Raazi yesterday and, I cannot control myself from going gaga over it! Where do I even begin! Let’s start with the basics. The film is an adaptation of the book ‘Calling Sehmat’ by HARINDER S. SIKKA. The direction, screenplay and dialogues are given by Meghna Gulzar. The film stars Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal as the lead along with an exceptional supporting cast that weaves together an incredible story. The film is about a brave Indian girl who marries a Pakistani Army man to spy for India. The movie is inspired by true events which makes it all the more special.
Here, I want to take this opportunity to thank the #BossLady Meghna Gulzar for bringing this film to life! Now, let’s dive straight into the article, shall we?
Alia Bhatt’s Performance:
With every film, my admiration for Alia’s acting prowess just keeps increasing! The young diva has outdone herself once again. No amount of praise can justify her flawless performance. She just manages to sell her character ‘Sehmat’ to us so effortlessly. The character has a journey in the film and Alia completely aces it. She is almost in every frame and how gorgeously she looks and acts the part is so immersive. I just want to go and hug her for taking up this brave film! Meghna Gulzar nailed the casting completely!
The Spy Story:
This story needed to be told. There are so many unsung heroes in our country that do not get their due recognition. Such stories must be in the forefront in the form of books and cinema so that people know and remember heroes like ‘Sehmat’. Also, from an entertainment and cinematic point of view, the film is a refreshing change from the regular typical films. It is a beautifully made movie that says something so important. Also, the thriller format keeps the viewers hooked throughout.
The Screenplay and Direction:
Meghna Gulzar’s narration of this incredible tale is unblemished. The screenplay flows so accurately, and the transitions are so smooth that you find yourself completely lost in the film. The direction is something which needs all the praise and appreciation. The dialogues are again on point. Taking sensitive subjects and presenting them beautifully is an art that Meghna Gulzar has thoroughly mastered.
Vicky Kaushal and the entire supporting cast:
Another actor to look forward to in the film is Vicky Kaushal who plays Alia’s husband in the film. He has a relatively small part but an important one. Vicky is so subtle yet so real, he is just perfect for the part. Again, bang on to the casting decisions taken by the team. The supporting cast is a gem who bring up the story in their unique way. All the actors including Rajit Kapoor, Shishir Sharma, Amruta Khanvilkar, Jaideep Ahlawat, Ashwath Bhatt, and Soni Razdan are all perfect for their parts.
Also, thank you for the song ‘Ae Watan’ I cannot stop humming it! Now, our society people will have a beautiful song to play during Independence Day and Republic Day. 😀
